Excess Chemical Exchange Program

Excess Chemical Exchange List

--------------------------------------------------

The Excess Chemical Exchange Program began October 3, 1994 and is administered by EHO staff. An informal program which had been in operation was revised to better meet the needs of the academic community. Chemicals which are no longer needed or used by a laboratory and are in good condition and suitable for use, will be designated as excess chemicals. A list of these materials, including physical state and amount present, will be posted on the EHO web site. SU laboratory supervisors may review the list for chemicals desired for their laboratory work. Requests for the chemicals can be sent using EHO's Excess Chemical Request Form which obtain the following information:
  1. Chemical desired
  2. Name of laboratory supervisor and department
  3. Requestor's phone number
  4. Requestor's e-mail address

Confirmation of the chemical's availability will be sent by return e-mail. Excess chemical requisition forms which will require the laboratory supervisor's signature are available electronically on the EHO web pages or by calling 443-4132. The excess chemicals will be stored in Environmental Health Office Laboratory in CST. A signed requisition form is required for all transactions. All chemicals must be transported from EHO within appropriate secondary containment. The Excess Chemical Exchange Program is an integral part of the University's Waste Minimization Plan and will only be successful with your participation. Before purchasing new chemicals, review the excess chemical list. These materials and the service are provided free by EHO. If you have any questions or comments, please call EHO at 443-9132.
